I think this ETSI Standard should be used, at least as a reference, for all
WGs and not only for S/MIME

Hello all:

On the call, I mentioned that the WG must decide the appropriate assurance
level for S/MIME from an individual identity perspective, which might

*	Attributes to be verified
*	Evidence/identity documentation allowed
*	Identity proofing process

Great volumes of existing standards are in place worldwide dealing with this
subject, covering different needs and nuances of implementation. Last year
ETSI STF 588 worked to compile ETSI TS 119 460 (Survey of technologies and
regulatory requirements for identity proofing for trust service subjects)
which describes many of these existing standards. (This was used as input
to the ETSI work to define ETSI TS 119 461 which proposes policy and
security requirements for identity proofing).

I pass this document on for your interest, and welcome feedback from the WG
on appropriate vetting measures for individual identity for S/MIME.

Best, Stephen
