Subject: RE: [cabf_governance] Notes from Today's Call
Hi,
We were chartered by the Forum with a task for this working group which I intend to bring to conclusion. The comments we have received so far should not be viewed as negative. These are a normal part of the Forum process and should be encouraged so that we can develop the best possible document. I think we have made substantial progress and are getting close to finalizing. We do need to have a call with more than 3 people present to answer some remaining questions. Hopefully we can have more on the next scheduled call. If that doesn’t work, we need to propose another day/time.
Many people want to work on code signing and SMIME. In fact, our current code signing document is somewhat of an “orphan” and needs a venue for updating. SMIME is starting to get some momentum now that Google has expressed interest. Hence these new bylaws will provide the necessary framework to move this along.
Thanks
Dean

Hi Ben,
Thanks for this and sorry I was unable to join the call.
I still think we need to address the fundamental question of whether there is still a need/desire for these changes before we push forward. I’m perceiving an overwhelming sense of apathy and some pushback.
I have been working on this effort to help CAB Forum, and not because Apple is really interested in the proposed changes. Unless the Forum can find someone who really wants these changes and is willing to drive the effort to completion, I say we put it on hold. I’m not willing to put more time and effort into leading a horse to water and trying to make him drink.
Best regards,
Virginia Fournier
