[cabf_governance] Draft Statement of Purpose of CAB Forum

Here is an initial draft of a statement of purpose for Articles of
Association that would create a new "CAB Forum" (removing "Browser" from the
organization name):

 

The CAB Forum is an unincorporated, non-profit association and shall have as
its objectives: 

 

To promote the best interests of current and future users of the Internet in
general;

 

To provide a forum for the exchange of information about best practices in
the industry that issues, manages, and uses ITU X.509 v.3 digital
certificates;

 

To promote self-regulation by the industry and to contribute to the
self-regulatory process;

 

To develop professional standards for the industry and contribute to the
development of technical standards;

 

To provide services in the common interest of the Members of the Forum;

 

To engage in any lawful act or activity that non-profit, unincorporated
associations may engage in; and

 

To undertake such other activities as may from time to time be appropriate
to further the purposes and achieve the goals set forth above.
