[cabf_validation] Attorney Opinion Letter

Hi Jeremy,

I thought we were trying to combine into one definition and use one - Which is why I was thinking Sections 11.11.1 and 11.11.2 would say "Verified Professional Letter from Legal Practitioner and Verified Professional Letter From Accountant Practitioner"

I have no issues keeping the definitions - it might make more sense.

The rest of your changes looked good.

Thanks,
Cecilia

Thanks Cecilia! I don't think we can delete the definition of Verified Accountant Letter or Verified Legal Opinion since they are capitalized terms throughout the document. I think I've already made most of the changes in the attached.

Hi Jeremy,

Modified (primarily the numbering) what you had using the updated EV Guidelines Version 1.5.2 -

These are the changes - (attached are the guidelines)

1) Add New Definition: Verified Professional Letter: A Verified Accountant Letter or Verified Legal Opinion as specified in Section 11.11.1 & 11.11.2 of these Guidelines.

2) Remove Definitions:

a. Verified Accountant Letter: A document meeting the requirements specified in Section 11.11.2 of these Guidelines.

b. Verified Legal Opinion: A document meeting the requirements specified in Section 11.11.1 of these Guidelines.

3) 11.2.2 Acceptable Method of Verification:

a. (2) Government Entity Subjects: Remove part "(iv) an attorney representing the Government Entity"

4) 11.2.2 Acceptable Method of Verification:

a. Add New Section 6: "(6) The CA may rely on a Verified Professional Letter to establish the Applicant's information listed in (1)-(5) above if (i) the Verified Professional Letter includes a copy of supporting documentation used to establish the Applicant's legal existence, such as a certificate of registration, articles of incorporation, operating agreement, statute, or regulatory act, and (ii) the CA confirms the Applicant's organization name specified in the Verified Professional Letter with a QIIS or QGIS."

5) Change Formatting of Section 11.4.1 (2)A

a. Numbered points are incorrect:

                                              i. Remove (i)

                                             ii. Points 2, 3, & 4 should be 3, 4, & 5

6) Change All References from Verified Legal Opinion & Verified Accountant Letter to "Verified Professional Letter"

a. 11.3.2 (3)

b. 11.4.1 (2) A i 2. ( which should really be 11.4.1 (2) A I 3 )

c. 11.4.1 (2) B

d. 11.5.2 (A)

e. 11.6.2 (4)

f. 11.8.2 (2) B

g. 11.12.3 (4)

7) Change Title of Section 11.11.1

a. From: Verified Legal Opinion

b. To: Verified Professional Letter from Legal Practitioner

8) Change Title of Section 11.11.2

a. From: Verified Accountant Letter

b. To: Verified Professional Letter from Accounting Practitioner

9) 11.12.3. Parent/Subsidiary/Affiliate Relationship

a. Remove Part 5: "Accountant Letter: A CA MAY verify the relationship between an Applicant and a Parent, Subsidiary, or Affiliate by relying on a Verified Accountant Letter (as described in Section 11.11.2); or"

b. Part 4: Add reference 11.11.2 to "as described in Section 11.11.1" so that it contains both 11.11.1 & 11.11.2.

Regards,
Cecilia
