[Smcwg-public] Effective date of S/MIME BR

The BRs currently state that the Effective Date is "Adoption date plus 8
months".  

 

Section 8.4 says:

 

1.	For Audit Periods starting before the Effective Date defined in
Section 1.2.1 of the first version of these Requirements, "WebTrust for CAs
v2.2.1 or newer"; or
2.	For Audit Periods starting after the Effective Date defined in
Section 1.2.1 of the first version of these Requirements, "WebTrust for CAs
v2.2.1 or newer" AND "WebTrust for S/MIME Baseline Requirements vX.X.X or
newer"; or

 

 

Q: Assuming that the CA has a "WebTrust for CAs v2.2.1 or newer audit", can
they start issuing certificates with the BR Policy OIDs starting no earlier
than the Adoption date?  The Effective Date is there purely to specify what
type of audit is needed. Is that accurate?
