[Servercert-wg] Voting period begins: Ballot SC60: Membership of ZT Browser

DigiCert abstains on Ballot SC-60. The purpose of a membership ballot is to discuss and clarify whether the membership criteria are met. DigiCert finds it unfortunate that no substantive discussion has occurred and that CAs and Browsers appear to be split on this important issue and believes if the application is to be denied, it is important that appropriate reasoning and rationale be provided as part of the public record.

This email serves to begin the voting period.

Purpose of Ballot

Richard Wang has applied for ZT Browser (produced by ZoTrus Technology Limited) to be granted membership in the Server Certificate Working Group as a Certificate Consumer. The SCWG Charter states that "An Applicant shall become a Member... upon the request of any Member, by a Ballot among the Members." This ballot is to determine if ZT Browser shall become a Member.

The following motion has been proposed by Aaron Gable of ISRG / Let's Encrypt, and endorsed by Tobias Josefowitz of Opera and Tim Hollebeek of Digicert.

Modify the membership of the Server Certificate Working Group to include ZT Browser as a Certificate Consumer with "richard at ztbro.com<mailto:richard at ztbro.com>" as the Authorized Representative.
