[cabfpub] Ballot 185 (Revised) - Limiting the Lifetime of Certificates

Trustwave votes No to 185

Trustwave sees the need for lower validity periods, but the industry will need time to adapt. We support a two-year validity period going into effect October 1st (4th quarter lockdown makes changes near year end difficult). And, one year later reducing to a one-year validity period. We would certainly welcome further dialogue and consider subsequent ballots on limiting certificate lifetimes to insure all parties involved have adequate preparation time.

Subject: [cabfpub] Ballot 185 (Revised) - Limiting the Lifetime of Certificates

Pursuant to the consensus on https://cabforum.org/pipermail/public/2017-February/009530.html<https://scanmail.trustwave.com/?c=4062&d=h8qr2FjJdHJHAnDQYXR2YJX7CpchjOFRye8HmoM6wg&s=5&u=https%3a%2f%2fcabforum%2eorg%2fpipermail%2fpublic%2f2017-February%2f009530%2ehtml> about the nature of changes during the discussion period, and the request from Gervase on https://cabforum.org/pipermail/public/2017-February/009618.html<https://scanmail.trustwave.com/?c=4062&d=h8qr2FjJdHJHAnDQYXR2YJX7CpchjOFRyb8Kx4Y5yQ&s=5&u=https%3a%2f%2fcabforum%2eorg%2fpipermail%2fpublic%2f2017-February%2f009618%2ehtml> to adjust what represents the Baseline agreement, this adjusts the effective date from 1 April to 24 August. While individual programs may choose to enact or enforce requirements prior to that, as the Baseline Requirements capture the effective point of common agreement of the bare minimum security levels, it seems appropriate that this Ballot accurately reflect that.
