After looking at Bylaw 2.2, I’m not sure I agree with your interpretation. Bylaw 2.2(c) says the review period must be “at least” seven days, and voting must then be seven days. By amending the ballot, all we have done is extended the review period from seven days to 14 days, followed by a seven day voting period.

Isn’t our action consistent with the Bylaws?

2.2 Ballots Among Forum Members

Ballots will be conducted in accordance with the following rules.

(c) A representative of any Member can call for a proposed ballot to be published for review and comment by the membership. *** The review period then shall take place for at least seven calendar-days before votes are cast.

(d) The CA/Browser Forum shall provide seven calendar-days for voting, with the deadline clearly communicated via the members’ electronic mailing list. All voting will take place online via the members’ electronic mailing list.

On the CA-Browser Forum teleconference today, the proposer and two endorsers of Ballot 150 agreed to CHANGE the voting period in the ballot by extending it one week.

I'm not sure our bylaws permit this. Section 2.2 covers how Ballots are managed.

While onerous and no doubt annoying and frustrating, we should follow our bylaws in the little things, just as we should the big things.

According to the first email, the ballot period ends on September 4, with the only exception being withdrawing the ballot.

If you're withdrawing the ballot, then it would need to be resubmitted, with at least 7 days for review and at least 7 days for voting, per our bylaws.

I realize this is a procedural quibble, but bylaws are important :)
