[cabfpub] NOTICE OF IPR REVIEW PERIOD FOR EV AMENDMENTS MADE BY BALLOTS 101 and 104

All,

 

Here is the most current redlined version of the Extended Validation
Guidelines after passage of Ballot 104.   For purposes of compliance with
CA/Browser Forum expectations, the changes were effective immediately upon
their adoption.

However, pursuant to Section 4.1 of the CA/Browser Forum's IPR Policy, this
is notice of the commencement of a 30-day IPR maintenance-guideline review
period by which certain provisions of the IPR will become applicable to
these recent changes made to the EV Guidelines (by Ballots 101 and 104).
During this IPR review period you are to review these amendments and
consider any licensing obligations with respect to any Essential Claims that
may be encompassed by such amendments.  

 

The IPR review period for these changes shall end on 25 August 2013.

 

Also, in two places in the appendices (Sample Opinion Letters), I noticed
that the word "exclusive" had not been removed, so for the sake of
consistency with the rest of the EV Guidelines, I went ahead and removed
those two instances.  If there are any concerns or comments with regard to
this or other matters mentioned above, please let me and everyone else know.
