[cabfpub] Possible Language for Lightweight IPR Agreement

Ben, I have to agree with Gerv - the only thing I can see about the lightweight IPR is it references the IPR agreement by URL, rather than print it all out for the signer. Whether the signer is an individual or represents an organization, they appear to be signing on to the entire IPR. I would expect it to reference a document that has only the 'lighter-weight obligations.' Is the intention is to make some class of Forum membership obligated to a subset of IPR obligations? This doesn't appear to achieve that.

Gerv,
I could go back and create one specifically for individuals, but then we'll have to see whether we can get consensus on the lighter-weight obligations.

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,

I thought the idea of a lightweight agreement was that it would be lighter weight than our current agreement, and focussed on the common case of an individual who owns no patents. However, these seem to be "wrapper"
documents for the current policy, in that they incorporate it by reference.
This makes them heavyweight, rather than lightweight, and also leads to questions about what it means for a person to agree to a policy whose wording is focussed on organizations.

Gerv
