All,
Dean just reminded me that I had not sent out the Ballot 85 results, which
initiated this vote of Gerv. I will quickly send the new ballot on this
governance vote to the management list.
Thanks,
Ben

Subject: [cabfpub] Governance Reform Vote

As I read ballot 85, the instant runoff voting for the Governance Reform is
currently open, and closes on Friday, August 31st at 1700 UTC. I am on
holiday from tomorrow for a week, so we are voting now.

In evaluating proposals, Mozilla was ideally looking for:

- Default transparency
- Openness to external input
- A voting stake for relying parties
- A voting system which reflects the asymmetric reality of the
  browser/CA relationship
- Fees, if they must exist, in line with ability to pay, so people are
  not unnecessarily excluded

Different proposals offered different combinations of these things, and so
careful reading was required.

It is also worth saying that Mozilla enjoys good relationships with the
organizations behind each proposal, and it is hoped that a lesser amount of
approval for a particular proposal will not disrupt that good relationship
:-)

All that said, Mozilla votes as follows:

1. PayPal
2. DigiCert
3. Trend Micro
4. No Change
5. Microsoft

I look forward to finding out the results on my return :-)

Gerv
